Dayamudra is Founder and Creative Director of the non-profit, Jai Bhim International, collaborating on alternative educational youth projects in south India. JBI's latest initiative is Blossom Projects, a residential community for young Dalit and so-called tribal women who have dropped out of school. Daya has taught all levels of credit and non-credit ESL at CCSF since 1999, and has led ESL projects in Guatemala, Hungary, and Indonesia.
Dayamudra was a student at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan, and has studied eight languages. She leads yoga and meditation retreats across The U.S., in India, The UK, Mexico and Spain. In Spain she lived in community on top of a mountain, completely unplugged for three months, where she was ordained as a Buddhist Dhammacharini. Her name means "Gesture of Compassion".
Dayamudra's passion is building a learning community, having fun in class, and watching her students grow in confidence as they express what truly matters to them.
